#SETTING HIGH STANDARDS FOR SAFETY

Music plays a part in bringing about real behavioural change within our community, and as we celebrate the future of music at BIGSOUND, we are committed to ensuring everyone feels safe and welcome.

Safety at BIGSOUND is underpinned by QMusic’s Concert Care initiative, developed in consultation with the QMusic Safety & Diversity Advisory Group. Through Concert Care, we believe it’s possible to set the ground rules of acceptable behaviour, empower others to be proactive, showcase best practice, and collaborate and partner with industry to drive real positive change.

At BIGSOUND, Concert Care means safer spaces, support services, better systems, and increased awareness and education.

Events like BIGSOUND couldn’t happen without the artists, industry, audiences, partners, contractors, staff, and vollies that make it happen – and we recognise we all share a Collective Responsibility to make sure everybody is safe and welcome at the music industry event of the year!

#BIGSOUND CONCERT CARE PROGRAM

The 2025 BIGSOUND Concert Care program includes a dedicated Concert Care safety hub, roaming Concert Care crew members (powered by ConsciousNest), and support services provided through the following Community Partners: Hey Mate, Let’s Go Support Service and Support Act.

The Concert Care team will be identifiable by their bright blue Concert Care vests. Say hello if you see them roaming between venues! During the event, the best way to reach the Concert Care team is to call the Event Hotline (0493 502 638), or pop into the Concert Care hub.

Concert Care Hub: 400 Rabbits

Open from Tuesday 2nd September to Thursday 4th September, from 9:00am – 12:00am daily, the Concert Care Hub is your go-to space if you’re feeling overwhelm, or in need of a break. Pop in to the Concert Care hub to get support from patron care and mental health and wellbeing workers, or take a moment to yourself and tune out the world with noise-cancelling headphones courtesy of JBL. The space will be kitted out with sensory friendly features including comfy seating, soft furnishings, weighted blankets, and sensory kits will be available on request.

ConsciousNest & Hi-Ground support and resources

ConsciousNest are powering the Concert Care crew at BIGSOUND 2025 through supportive crowd care. Catch them roaming between BIGSOUND venues during Showcase, or pop in and visit at the Concert Care Hub. The ConsciousNest team will run from 3pm until late, and will be supported by Hi-Ground, located in the Concert Care Hub during the day with resources and information.

Hey Mate therapeutic staff

Hey Mate is a social enterprise dedicated to mental health and wellbeing in the arts, and three of their therapeutic staff will be stationed in the Concert Care Hub throughout BIGSOUND. If you’re needing to unpack and decompress, drop in and say hello to the Hey Mate staff, at their pop-up Live Event Wellbeing Program (LEWP) station. The team will also be visiting our Artist Hub & Crew HQ during the week, and popping into conference sessions.

Let’s Go Support Service

Let’s Go! is a Brisbane based disability support service with a mission to make sure everyone can enjoy a fun and safe night out. This year, Let's Go! are working with BIGSOUND to help coordinate on-ground accessibility and inclusive support across the festival. You'll spot the Let’s Go! crew roaming each evening during the BIGSOUND Showcase as part of the Concert Care team.

Support Act First Nations Team @ Goolwal Garden

Support Act's First Nations team will be hosting an artist support desk at the Goowal Garden from Tuesday 2nd September to Thursday 4th September, 11:00am – 1:00pm daily. Visit the support desk to learn about Support Act's services and resources for First Nations artists and music industry workers.
