Aunty Bea Ballangarry

Aunty Bea (Beatrice Maud Ballangarry) is an 81-year-old Gumbaynggirr Elder, award-winning poet, and passionate advocate for her community. With a lifetime of wisdom, she has fought against discrimination, supported her family through challenges, and dedicated herself to cultural healing and education. Known for her work in mentoring and community-building, Aunty Bea has received numerous accolades, including the Order of Australia. Her Guunumba healing circles and cultural work continue to inspire and empower others, leaving a lasting impact on both Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities.
